Panse, an MLA from Multai, was on his way to Bhopal from Betul when the mishap occurred, they said.
The injured MLA was admitted to a private hospital and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the hospital to enquire about his health.
Panse later went to Multai in a special ambulance to take part in the last rites of his mother.
