Congressmen in Madhya Pradesh will stage a week-long demonstration from tomorrow to protest against the Centre's economic policies.

Claims were made about bringing back blackmoney stashed in foreign countries, but because of Modi government's economic policies and "financial mess", the "white money" is going abroad, All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Mohammad Saleem today alleged while talking to reporters here.

"To protest against such bad economic policies, the Congressmen will stage a week-long protest starting from Peer Gate area of Bhopal where we will set afire effigies of the Prime Minister, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (Shivraj Singh Chouhan) and his corrupt Cabinet colleagues," Saleem, who was formerly chairman of state Congress minority cell, said.

He said that despite the economic slowdown of 2008, the then Congress-led UPA government at the Centre under prime minister Manmohan Singh had ensured that it did not have any effect on the country's economy.

State Youth Congress spokesman Syed Saud Hasan said, "Before the polls, Modiji had promised to generate one crore jobs for the youths within a year of coming to power, but nothing of that sort has happened and it turned out to be a big hollow promise.
