Police today arrested around 75 Congressmen, including the Opposition party's unit President Arun Yadav, during a protest march organised here to demand resignation of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the MP recruitment scam.
They were protesting against alleged irregularities in conduct of entrance tests for admission to various colleges and recruitment in government jobs. The tests are conducted by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB).
About 75 workers and leaders of the party, including Yadav, Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare, former Lok Sabha MP Sajjan Singh Verma and State NSUI President Vipin Vankhede were arrested when they tried to remove barricades and lay siege to District Collectorate, Additional SP Vinay Prakash Paul said.

Police fired teargas shells and used water cannons to disperse the Congress activists, who were stopped about 100 meters ahead of the Collectorate.
The MPPEB scam, which came to light mid-last year, is being probed by a Special Task Force.
