A Dalit woman sarpanch of a village here has alleged that the proprietor of a fair price shop and his aides threatened to kill her and also insulted and tried to intimidate her for passing a resolution against malpractices at the PDS outlet.

Umaria district SP Chandra Shekhar Solanki said that in the alleged incident at Obra village under Karkeli Janpad panchayat, the accused also tore up a register which contained a record of the resolution.

The sarpanch, Gomtibai, yesterday said in her complaint to police that the incident took place about a week back.

She claimed that when she passed a resolution in the village panchayat against alleged malpractices at the fair price shop, its owner, one Chandrabali Sahu, and his aides abused her on caste lines and threatened to kill her.

They also tore up the register in which the proceedings of the meeting were recorded, she further alleged.

Gomtibai claimed she had reported the matter at Chandia police station near the village but no action was taken on her complaint whereupon which she had approached the SP.

SP Solanki said that after receiving the complaint in this regard, he has directed Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Arvind Shrivastava to look into the matter.
