Five members of a family drowned Wednesday in the Sindh river in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district, police said.
Police suspect that the deceased Waris Khan (40) and his daughters ventured into the river but drowned as they failed to gauge the depth of the water.
The incident occurred under Amayan police station limits.
The deceased are identified as Khan, his daughters Jasmin (17), Mehron (16) and Kushbu (15), and his nephew Ameer Khan (19), said district superintendent of police Rudolf Alvares.
Khan and his family members had come to Aman village to attend a marriage in Umri area.

"Khan and others ventured into the Sindh river. However, they slipped into deep water and died," Alvares said.
All the bodies have been fished out from the river and sent for postmortem.
District Collector J Vijaykumar has handed a financial help of Rs 5,000 to the next of the kin of the each deceased for funeral.
A financial assistance of Rs 10,000 has also been announced for the families of the deceased.
