MP forest dept take measures to protect peafowls from heat

In view of rising temperature, the Madhya Pradesh Forest department has initiated steps to protect peafowls in the district.

"In the midst of soaring temperature, we have identified 42 habitats of peafowls where water and fodder is being placed to conserve the national bird," Forest Sub-Divisional Officer RN Saxena told PTI.

He said that there were some 7,200 peafowls in the district.

According to ornithologist Ajay Gadikar, peafowls enters agriculture fields where they end up eating pesticide sprayed produce and worms and die.

He also said peacocks are vulnerable to heat stroke.
