Four persons sustained minor injuries as a 600 mw unit of coal-fired Singaji power plant in Khandwa district today went kaput after its generator transformer exploded.
"Four persons at the site sustained minor injuries. Three of them have been discharged, only one, on whose back some oil spilled, is being treated. The damaged unit will be lighted up in a fortnight after replacing generator transformer," Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited's Managing Director Vijendra Nanavati told PTI over phone.
He said the fire which started after the explosion was put out in just ten minutes.

The explosion might have happened due to a manufacturing defect in the generator transformer and the equipment is being replaced by BHEL as it was under guarantee period.
Nanavati added that the unit's tripping won't lead to a power crisis as the state has enough power generation capacity to meet the demand.
