"The ruling BJP government which had termed the erstwhile Congress government as 'anti-employees', has now pocketed Rs 19,450 crore due to them and pensioners as DA," he said in a statement.

Singh said Congress General Secretary and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh had brought the matter in the open recently in Bhopal, but the government chose to remain silent on the issue, which clearly shows the state of affairs.

He said he had also written a letter to the Chief Minister on April 3 demanding that 96 month dues of the allowance be paid to pensioners in this regard, which was not answered.

The Congress leader said these are the same pensioners to whom the BJP had promised in 2003 to pay DA as per their demands, but conveniently forgot this and other promises after coming to power.

When contacted, Madhya Pradesh Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Cabinet spokesman Narottam Mishra said he would get back on the issue after verifying the figure mentioned by the Congress leaders in this regard.
