MP: man gets life sentence for killing brother's wife

A local court here today awarded life imprisonment to a man for killing his brother's wife at village Khajuria in the district.

Additional sessions judge Kamal Joshi also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Rajkumar Rajput (36), who was accused of hacking his brother's wife, Bhuribai alias Anita, to death on July 1, 2012.

Rajput and Anita had had a quarrel over distribution of prasad on a religious occasion, additional public prosecutor Badri Vishal Gupta told reporters.

Rajput's brother and the victim's husband, Malkhan Singh, and two other relatives, Mardan Singh and Raghunath Singh, turned hostile during the trial.
 

However the prosecution proved the case on the basis of the statement of deceased woman's brother and circumstantial evidence.
