A local court here today awarded life imprisonment to a man for raping and sodomising an eight-year-old Dalit girl in 2012.
Special Judge R P Sharma also convicted the accused Chaman Laxman (23) under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act).
The court also ordered Laxman to pay a compensation of Rs 5,000 to the victim.
Prosecutor Vishal Anand Shrivastava said that Chaman raped the girl on August 19, 2012 behind a temple in Bhanwarkuan area.
