Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh, who was granted bail recently after spending over two years in jail connection with the Saradha scam, today moved the Calcutta High Court seeking direction to Kolkata Municipal Corporation on utilisation of his MPLAD money for development work.

In a petition moved before the court of Justice Dipankar Dutta, he said he was not able to utilise his MPLAD money for development work for the people.

Ghosh, who was suspended by Trinamool Congress for alleged anti-party activities before his arrest in November, 2013, claimed before the court that he had recommended several times to the KMC different development work, but did not receive any reply.

He claimed that some money from his MPLAD fund was lying with the Trinamool Congress-run KMC, but had not yet been utilised.

Hearing his plea, Justice Dutta directed KMC's Director General, Buildings, to answer within seven days about the amount of money lying with the corporation and why no reply was given to the MP over utilisation of the funds, if any.
