MP municipal polls: 61.26 pc polling in final phase

Nearly 61.26 per cent voting was recorded in the second and final phase of civic polls held in nine places including Bhopal today amid heavy security.

The voting passed off peacefully by and large barring some stray incidents, a top official said.

According to reports reaching here nearly 61.26 per cent voting has been recorded in nine places, State Election Commissioner R Parasuram told reporters.

He said the voting percentage may go up marginally when the final data is compiled including latest inputs.

Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Chhindwara registered 56.70, 62.35, 62.12 and 82.70 per cent voting, respectively, when the last report came.
 

Parasuram said no major untoward incident was reported from anywhere.

The total number of eligible voters in the nine places is more than 43.25 lakh.

Parasuram said polling was held between 7 AM to 5 PM.

The counting of votes will take place on February 4.
