MP: officer arrested for fraudulent transfer of tribal land

A local court today remanded a woman government officer in judicial custody after she was arrested in connection with fraudulent transfer of tribal lands in the district.

Sandhya Singh, the accused, was posted as the District Registrar (Land Registry) in Shahdol district in 2009 when the land belonging to a few tribal persons was transferred and registered in the name of Delhi-based firm PACL in a fraudulent manner, police said.

A case for cheating, and also under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act) was registered against her and seven others, Deputy Superintendent of Police Raghvendra Singh said.

Singh is posted in Chhattarpur district at present. Other acused in the case have got bail earlier.
