Gwalior Regional Transport Officer M P Singh revoked the driving license of Vishwambhar Gurjar after he was convicted on January 10 for abducting and raping a school girl in his car in the city, an official said.

Gurjar had abducted the minor girl in his Bolero car before raping and dumping her.

Two others convicted with Gurjar, did not have the driving license, and are not likely to get the one in Madhya Pradesh, said the official.

The action was taken under section 19 (1) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Section 19(1) allows for refusing or revoking the licence of, among others, anyone who has used a motor vehicle in a cognisable offence.
