Renowned Hindi poet Pradeep Choubey died of a cardiac arrest in his home here in the early hours of Friday.
Choubey (70) was the younger brother of celebrated humorist, satirist and poet Shail Chaturvedi.
Choubey, known for his humorous poetry, is survived by his daughter and son, the latter living in Mumbai, said Pawan Karan, a friend and poet himself.
Karan said Choubey will be cremated here on Saturday.
He was in a distressed state since the last two months after his younger son died in Bhopal, Karan said.
Born on August 26, 1949 in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, Choubey shifted to Gwalior.
He quit his job at Dena Bank to pursue his passion of poetry and travelled across the nation enthralling audiences with his punches, several of them targeted at the orthodox elements of society, senior journalist CK Naidu said.
