Madhya Pradesh Silk Federation (MPSF) has received a key quality certification mark for its products, a move that will help in their popularisation and improved sales.

Central Silk Board (CSB) has provided "silk mark and Vanya logo" to the Federation for 100 per cent quality certification of its products, said an official of the MP Government's Public Relations Department today.

The mark certifies that the piece of textile which bears the mark is made of pure natural silk.

Madhya Pradesh Minister for Cottage and Village Industries Antar Singh Arya made the announcement about the Central Silk Board certification during MPSF's annual general meeting yesterday, the official said.

Arya is also Chairman of MP Silk Federation.

He said demand of silk products is increasing day by day in other States and the quality certification will help in their marketing and sale.

The Minister said Rs 2.80 crore worth of silk cloths were sold by the Federation in the last financial year.

The Federation will take part in exhibitions to be held at Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Vishakhapatnam, Kolkata, Indore, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Ratlam and Surat in the current year.

Sales worth Rs 1 crore are expected from these exhibitions, he said.

MPSF Managing Director Anil Shrivastava informed about the activities of Federation at the meeting.
