Rajya Sabha M P Vijay Darda had written several letters to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and others for allocation of coal blocks to JLD Yavatmal Energy Ltd, against whom a closure report was filed, the CBI today told a special court.
CBI prosecutors and investigating officer, while advancing arguments on the closure report filed by the agency in the coal scam case, told the court that Darda had written 10 letters to the PMO and others in this regard.
"Vijay Darda, being an MP, wrote 10 letters to the PMO and others, for allocation of coal blocks to JLD Yavatmal Energy Ltd. He himself was a director in the firm," CBI prosecutors A P Singh and V K Sharma told Special CBI Judge Bharat Parashar.

The court, after hearing the arguments, fixed the matter for consideration on the closure report on November 20.
"Arguments heard. Put up for consideration on November 20," the judge said.
During the arguments, the investigating officer told the court that the Government of Chattisgarh, where the Fatehpur East Coal Block was situated, had not recommended coal block to JLD Yavatmal Energy Ltd.
During the day's proceeding, CBI filed bunch of relevant documents related to the case in the court.
CBI had lodged an FIR in the case against six individuals, the firm and unknown persons under sections 420 (cheating) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
The agency, however, had later on filed a closure report in the case, saying that no undue benefit was given to M/s JLD Yavatmal Energy Ltd by the Coal Ministry in allocation of coal blocks to it.
