MP Vishweshwar Reddy to attend 7th Assembly session of IRENA

Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy has been invited by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to chair a session at the 7th Assembly session of the inter-governmental organisation at Abu Dhabi.

Reddy will be chairing the session on "Tools and key legislative requirements for renewable energy deployment" at the IRENA Legislators' Forum on January 13, a release said.

Through the Forum, IRENA aims to support legislators in their efforts to enable the deployment of renewable energy in their respective countries.

It is an inter-governmental organisation, founded in 2009 through the IRENA statute to promote adoption and sustainable use of renewable energy.
 

IRENA presently has 150 countries as its members.

The Assembly which is made up of one representative from each member is the ultimate decision-making authority. It meets annually to discuss issues such as the work programme, budget, adoption of reports, and potential amendments to Agency activities, the release added.
