The convention will be held against the backdrop of an apparent cold war between the camps of Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Jyotiraditya Scindia and state Congress chief Kantilal Bhuria.

"Today women are capable of doing anything. When they can become the President of the country and even our party is also successfully led by a woman Sonia Gandhi, then we can take initiative in this regard also," state unit women Congress chief Archana Jaiswal told reporters.

She was responding to a query whether dissensions in the state unit prompted the women wing to take lead in organising the event.

The convention under the theme of 'Swayamsiddha Mahila Shakti Sammelan' will be a brainstorming session for cadres ahead of 2013 Assembly elections.

Union ministers Kamal Nath, Krishna Teerath and Sriprakash Jaiswal, senior leader and MP Mohsina Kidwai, party general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, B K Hariprasad, former chief minister Digvijay Singh and former Union minister Suresh Pachouri among others have given their consent to attend the gathering, she said.

Scindia would not be able to attend the convention as he is going on a foreign tour on that particular date, Jaiswal said.
