In a letter to opposition leaders, MPCC cited Union Industries Ministry report stating that Maharashtra has attracted 33 per cent of all foreign direct investments in the country since 2000.
PCC spokesman Sachin Sawant said in the letter that Maharashtra was a "shining example of an ideal democracy" for the last 53 years with opposition parties also playing a constructive role.
"As per the new report, Maharashtra is way ahead of states like Gujarat in terms of FDI, but opposition leaders in the state have chosen to remain quiet. They could have joined hands with the government to promote the state and its achievements," Sawant said.
Compared to Maharashtra attracting 33 percent of all FDI in the past 12 years, Delhi stood behind at 19 per cent, Karnataka six per cent followed by Gujarat and Tamil Nadu at five percent each, he said.
Against the FDI of Rs 2,81,565 crore in the past 12 years in Maharashtra, neighbouring Gujarat's total FDI was Rs 38,465 crore for the same period, he added.
The letters were addressed separately to Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, BJP state president Sudhir Mungantiwar, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Eknath Khadse and his counterpart in the Council Vinod Tawde.
