The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) released a "vision document" on urban issues today, adding that it is not an indictment of the urban development department held by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
Replying to a query after releasing the document, MPCC president Manikrao Thakre said that the document dwells on issues related to urban infrastructure such as roads, water supply and sanitation.
The document lists problems plaguing Maharashtra's urban regions, saying that 50 per cent of urban areas receive water supply for less than 15 days a month and that per capita monthly expenditure of more than 40 per cent of the state's population is a measly Rs 1,500 per month.
Asked if the document was aimed at Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan who holds the urban development portfolio, Thakre said that it was not an indictment of Chavan.
