The MPCC General Secretary and spokesperson Ganesh Patil stated in an email message to reportes that the duo had allegedly defied and acted against party directives in the elections to the office of members for co-opted members of the corporation, due to which action was taken against them.

According to reports, election or nomination to the office of co-opted members, the MPCC chief had suggested the name of Ravi Rao a former corporator.

However, Purnekar and Chavan has pushed the name of Pradip Rao and got him nominated.
