Talking to reporters, MPCC president Manikrao Thakre said that strict action would be taken against party workers and leaders if it was found that they did not work for the candidates in the two constituencies.
"We will get to know that ground situation after the report is given to us. Then we will discuss the issue with the NCP", Thakre replied when he was asked whether the Congress suspected that NCP had not worked for the party candidates.
He said the Congress had apprised the NCP leadership that the local units in the two constituencies were not co-operating for the elections.
However, NCP state unit president Madhukar Pichad denied that his party was behind the defeat of Congress in the two constituencies.
"Our co-ordination was good and NCP had worked for the victory of the two Congress candidates", he said.
Meanwhile, Thakre admitted that the presence of an independent candidate, who was denied a Congress ticket, caused the defeat of the party nominee.
