The meeting, held at Gandhi Bhavan in south Mumbai, discussed subjects like unsatisfactory rains and measures needed to combat the situation besides celebration of Vasantrao Naik birth centenary, statewide tour programme of MPCC president, formation of village and ward development committees across the state and holding extended state executive meeting, MPCC spokesperson Sachin Sawant said.
MPCC president Manikrao Thakre presided over the meeting which was also attended by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan along with ministers Harshvardhan Patil and Rajendra Gavit, he said.
The meeting began with offering condolences to Rajesh Khanna, Mrinal Gore and Dara Singh.
A resolution thanking party president Sonia Gandhi, general secretary Rahul Gandhi, AICC member Mohan Prakash and Chavan and congratulating the newly-elected MLCs was unanimously passed.
Thakre gave an overview of his expectations from the office-bearers and explained the measures to be taken to guide the district workers for various programmes to be undertaken.

He said there is a need to give extra attention to work by the district units and it will be the responsibility of district in-charge to monitor the village development committees and booth committees in respective districts.
The chief minister said the rains are not satisfactory and a letter was sent to MPCC regarding his willingness to organise an all party meeting on the drought issue.
The government is trying to change the form of aid being given to farmers which needs to be substantial. There needs to be a discussion on the party platform to think over the form of the aid, he said.
Chavan also expressed the need to brainstorm on the preparation for next general elections. After the monsoon session, a discussion among the party office-bearers will be held in this regard, he added.
