The Madhya Pradesh Madarsa Board (MPMB) has asked 2,700 madarsas affiliated to it to organise "Paigam-e-Mohabbat" (message of love) processions on Independence Day.

"Madarsas have been asked to take out these processions in 50 out of 51 districts on Independence Day," board chairman Syed Imad Uddin said.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging interfaith mingling, he said.

He has issued a directive that madarsas should hoist the national flag and merge the Paigam-e-Mohabbat event with Tiranga (the tri-colour) rallies taken out by various organisations on August 15, he said.

If no such rallies are planned, then madarsas in respective places should take out their own Paigam-e-Mohabbat procession, he said.

In Bhopal, the processions would be called "Paigam-e-Aman" (message of peace) as another organisation has named its rally 'Paigam-e-Mohabbhat', he said.

Madarsas have also been asked to hold cultural programmes that day and send videos of the events which MPMB will upload on its website, he said.

Such functions are being organised by madarsas affiliated to the board for the past three years, he pointed out.
