Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Kirit Solanki (BJP) said these Indians working in Angola have not been given their salaries or any payment for overtime.
"Some of them were beaten up and some fired upon. Many have been held captive. A few are hiding in the jungles. Their state is pitiable," Solanki said.
He maintained that 40 of them have come to India and requested that they be provided all help.
"The Indian mission in Angola did not provide any help. Their attitude was very laid back. Besides, action should be taken against the agency that took these people to Angola," Solanki said.
Jhansi Laxmi Botcha (Cong) said there are 1,200 Indian workers in Angola. "I request the government to take immediate steps to bring those Indians who want to return from Angola," she said.
M P Rajesh (CPI-M) raised the issue of violence in Kashmir and alleged that 120 people, mostly youth, have been killed in the Valley. He said the report of the interlocutors on the issue should be looked into.
He said Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had suggested that AFSPA should be removed from the state. Rajesh said presence of security forces should also be reduced.
He alleged that the Public Safety Act was being misused to harass the youth.
