Veteran film director Mrinal Sen, who suffered hip injuries after a fall in the bathroom, was today operated upon successfully at a private hospital, his family said.
His wife Gita Sen told PTI that the operation went off well and he was recovering now. He would be discharged soon.
91-year-old Mrinal Sen, along with Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak, had changed the profile of Indian cinema in the eyes of the world.

Besides bagging four national film awards as the best director for works like 'Khanadhar' (1984) and 'Bhuvan Shome' (1969), he was also awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest award in cinema, in 2005.
Starring actress Nandita Das, his last film 'Aamaar Bhuvan' (This, My Land) was released in 2002.
