MSEDCL assistant engineer held in bribery case

An assistant engineer of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) was today arrested for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2,000.

The Thane Unit of Anti Corruption Bureau today trapped Vishwanath A Sanap, 55, was working as the Assistant Engineer with the MSEB Sub Division Kalyan-III, Superintendent of Police, ACB Sandeep Karnik told PTI.

"The complainant had approached him for a temporary power connection for the new construction for which Sanap demanded Rs 2,000," Karnik said.

The complainant approached the ACB which laid a trap at the MSEDCL office in Kalyan and arrested him.

He was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
