Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) has added Nashik as a new venue on the international circuit, besides naming towns like Pusad, Yewatmal, Parbhani, Satara and Nanded on the national tennis calendar as tournament venues.
Last year MSLTA conducted over 140 tournaments, the highest by any state affiliated to the All India Tennis Association, made up of 6 international events, 97 AITA-ranked events (including the Under 12, 14, 16 nationals), four national series tournaments and 15 super series, among others, according to the association's secretary Sunder Iyer.
After releasing its annual rankings for 2015, Iyer said that the top three players in each group would be felicitated by the MSLTA during next month's Ramesh Desai Nationals for under 16 boys and girls to be held here.
