'MSOs, LCOs asked to provide computerised bills to consumers'

Local cable operators and multi- system operators have been asked to look into the issue of computerised bill being not provided to consumers in certain areas of Phase I cities, government said today.

"It has been brought to the notice of this ministry that in some areas of Phase I cities, computerised bills are not being provided to consumers," I&B minister Manish Tewari said in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.

"TRAI has issued necessary directions to the multi-system operators (MSOs) and local cable operators (LCOs) in this regard," he said.

In response to another question, Tewari said a total of 1.20 crore of set-top boxes have been installed as on January 2013.
 

To an another question, the minister said 137 complaints have received by government or inter-ministerial committee, set up to examine the cases of violation of the Programme and Advertising Codes, in last three years.
