Aiming to double its customer base by this year end, Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd (SSTL), which provides telecom services under the MTS brand, today launched the lowest tarriff in Kerala.
"MTS presently has close to 5 lakh customers in Kerala. The brand was targetting to double this by end of this calendar year", Chief Operating officer, Kerala, Radhakrishnan K V, said here.
Launching the "kidlan offer", the company announced free unlimited MTS to MTS local calls bundled with the SIM card for the new voice customers. Besides, customers would get full talk time on all recharges starting at Rs 30 and 10 per cent extra talk time on recharges of Rs 150 and above for a one year period.

The initiative has been designed in a manner that would also provide 10 per cent revenue share to the retail channel, he said.
As part of the offer, new Voice customers in the state would get Rs 20 as free bundled talk time and more value on all subsequent recharges for a year while the activiating retailers would get 10 per cent revenue share on all recharges for 6 months from activation. Radhakrishnan said there would be a 69 per cent drop in terms of tariff.

Polytechnic ties up with Aussie firm for vocational courses * Thapar Polytechnic, part of the Thapar Technology Campus in Patiala has entered into a collaboration with Melbourne-based Heraud Training and Education, to provide vocational courses under a scheme of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The tie-up would enable transfer of expertise and best teaching practices from Australia, including industry relevant curriculum, real-life training facilities, certified and experienced trainers and quality audit frameworks, a statement said.

Federal Bank wins award
* Kerala-based Federal Bank has won the MasterCard Payment Innovation Awards under Two categories, Customer Activation and Merchant Acquisition Programmes.
The Debit Card campaign initiated by the Bank for customers during the recently concluded Federal Bank Grand Kerala Shopping Festival earned them the coveted award under the Customer Activation Programme, a bank press release said.
The second award under the category Merchant Acquisition programme is in recognition of the strategies adopted for increasing card based payments. Through its innovative online fee collection solution, Federal Bank facilitates online collection of offerings and student fees for a large number of Religious and Educational institutions, the release said.
