Mufti inaugurates passport seva kendra in Anantnag

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today e-inaugurated a passport seva kendra in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, aimed to benefit about 20 lakh people in the area, a government spokesman said.

Mehbooba complimented the people of Anantnag for the facility and expressed hope that it would cut the delays caused in the delivery of passports and process applications from far-flung areas, he said.

The chief minister asked the passport office authorities to prioritise issuance of passports in respect of students, Hajj pilgrims, infirm and other deserving people by speeding-up the process, the spokesman said.

He said the chief minister was informed that Anantnag is among the 144 locations across the country where this facility is being introduced.
 

In Jammu and Kashmir, such kendras would be set up also at Baramulla, Kathua and Udhampur.
