Mufti prays for peace in J&K at Shahdara Sharief shrine

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today paid obeisance at the shrine, Shahdara Sharief, and prayed for peace and prosperity of the state.

Standing atop a hillock near Thanna Mandi, the 19th century shrine is dedicated to Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for Haj & Auqaf and Horticulture A R Veeri, Minister for CA&PD Zulfkar, Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar, Political Adviser to the Chief Minister Amitabh Mattoo and Secretary to Chief Minister M H Malik.

After paying obeisance, the Imam and Khateeb of the shrine performed 'dastar bandi' of the Chief Minister.
 

He was later briefed by the shrine's administrator Abdul Qayoom Dar about the various ongoing works aimed at improving the facilities for devotees, who throng the shrine in large numbers from all parts of the state.

Sayeed directed the agencies concerned to complete the work on Bait-ul-Zaireen and kitchen block so that these are handed over to Auqaf without any further delay.

He said he will also depute a team of senior officers to visit Shahdara Sharief for formulation of a comprehensive development plan.
