Curfew-like restrictions were imposed in parts of Srinagar city today, to prevent Shia mourners from taking out Muharram procession following apprehensions of law and order problem.
"Restrictions have been imposed in parts of six police station areas of the city as a precautionary measure," a government spokesman said.
The curfew has been imposed in Maisuma, MR Gunj, Nowhatta, Khanyar, Safakadal and Zadibal police station areas, the spokesman said.

However, these processions were banned in 1990 as authorities feared that militants could attack people.
The spokesman said there were no reports of any untoward incident from any part of the city.
