Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today paid tributes to Ram Manohar Lohia on his 105th birth anniversary here.

The leader was at a book release of 'Dr Lohia aur unka Samajwad' penned by party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav and advised the youth and his party leaders to read the novel to understand the great thinker and imbibe his ideology.

"Until you read this book and keep raising slogans, people will not agree with you," Yadav said.

Appearing in public for the first time after recovering in a Gurgaon hospital recently from swine flu symptoms, Yadav said he was not against English but making it compulsory.

He recalled as to how he, as the then chief minister, had done away with the language in the UP PSC examinations helping the Hindi speaking youth excel.

Advising his government to work in the interest of people, Yadav said that courtesy is good but you will have to work for the welfare of people whether it is our own government or any other.

"English is the language used by traders and those who struggle use Hindi," she said exhorting the workers to take a pledge to use the national language the most.
