Mulayam to select candidates for 168 seats SP lost in last assembly elections

Eyeing the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Samajwadi Party today authorised its supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to make final decision in slection of candidates for 168 seats lost by the party in the last state elections.

"The state parliamentary board, which met here authorised Mulayam Singh Yadav to make final decision on selection of candidates for 168 Assembly seats, which were lost by the party in the last state polls," party spokesperson Rajendra Chowdhury said.

"A list of prospective candidates for these seats were presented in the meeting," he said.

Aiming to repeat its 2012 poll performance, the party is emphasising on winning 168 seats lost by them and interviews were held at party office for selection of candidates for these seats, Choudhury said.
 

At the meeting, discussions were also held on the ongoing cycle rally, scheduled to end tomorrow, the spokesperson said, adding, the rally, which were suspended in eight districts due to rush of 'Kanwarias' will resume from Aug 17.

The party's state President Akhilesh Yadav and senior leaders Shivpal Yadav, Arvind Singh Gope were present at the meeting.
