Haryana government is considering whether to restart board examinations for Std VIII as the Right to Education Act makes it mandatory for every child to be educated till Class-8 level.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has written to the Ministry of Human Resource Development on the issue, state education minister Geeta Bhukkal today said during the ongoing Budget Session of Haryana Assembly.
She was responding to a question by MLA Narender Sangwan regarding upgrade of schools in Gharaunda constituency and poor performance of students in the secondary examination.

The chief minister had therefore written to the Union government about the proposal to restart board exams for Std VIII.
Meanwhile, referring to the weak showing in the Class 10 exams, she said explanations were being sought from school officials as results have been found to range between zero to 20 per cent in some cases.
She said that 13 schools in Gharaunda constituency have been upgraded while 207 was the number of schools in the entire state which had been upgraded.
