Multi-crore bank fraud: Court hands out punishment

A special CBI court here sentenced a firm owner along with a former bank manager to seven years' imprisonment and their five accomplices to three and a half years' of jail in a multi-crore bank fraud.

Court of special CBI Judge AK Singh also imposed a fine of Rs six lakh on the seven after they were declared guilty in connection with the Rs 10-crore bank fraud by the court yesterday.

All the seven took a loan of Rs 10 crore from a branch of Punjab National Bank situated in Sikandrabad area submitting fake documents in between 2008 and 2009.
 

The CBI court today awarded seven years' jail to industrialist Kapil Tyagi and former bank manager KN Goswami.

It awarded three and a half years' imprisonment to the industrialist's wife Monali Tyagi, former bank manager Dheeraj Sahariya, Nandlal Sahgal, Brijlal Singh and Ali Akhtar.
