CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat today alleged that the Centre was allowing multinational companies to exploit the country's natural resources including water even as many states were reeling under severe drought.
These companies were exploiting the country's natural resources, though the NDA government's flagship campaign "Make in India" was intended to boost the domestic manufacturing industry, the CPI(M) Politburo member alleged while launching the Thamirabharani river protection programme.
The river is the lifeline of Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts and the main source of water for common people and the farmers in these two districts, she said.
