A multiplex cinema has come up in a mall here without the permission for construction with the mall authorities saying they would open the complex after getting the requisite nod.

Two more multiplexes are coming up in two under-construction malls in Palampur, also in Kangra district, without the requisite permission.

A mall official said the multiplex with two screens and 200 seats is ready to operate but the permission for it was sought six months ago.

The construction of the mall had started about two-and-a-half-year back.

As per the Himachal Pradesh Cinemas (Regulation) Act, the owner of a mall has to take a separate no-objection certificate (NOC) for a cinema hall from the PWD Executive Engineer before the "start of construction".

Kangra Deputy Commissioner Ritesh Chauhan said he has forwarded the cases of the three multiplexes, which were brought to his notice, to the Himachal Pradesh government.
