Mumbai: 14,025 booked for traffic violations in 4 days

City police today penalised 3,427 motorists for violating traffic rules and caught 207 others for drunk driving while ensuring a safe Holi.

"We have caught 207 motorists for drunk driving," said a police officer, adding that the drive has been going on since the last four days.

The total number of people who have been penalised for drunk driving in the last four days, including today, are 493, while the number of those caught under the Motor Vehicle's Act for violation of the traffic rules was 14,025.

"On Sunday, we penalised 107 for drunk driving while 4,991 motorists were penalised for other offences," the police officer said.
