Mumbai: Driver dies as high-rise scaffolding falls on rickshaw

A man was killed and two others injured after scaffolding on the 23rd floor of an under-construction MHADA building collapsed due to wind on a rickshaw passing below, police said Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday night in Dharavi area and the deceased has been identified as rickshaw driver Shahadat Sharafat Ali Ansari, while passenger Shahid Ali Khan (35) and a pedestrian Shyamlal Jaiswar (50) were seriously injured.

"All three were rushed to hospital where Ansari succumbed to injuries. A case under section 304A (causing death by negligence) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered," he added.
