Mumbai FC beat Sporting 1-0

First half injury time goal by Sampath Kuttymani guided Mumbai FC to a 1-0 win over Sporting Clube de Goa in the Group A league match of the Hero Federation Cup football tournament here today.

Mumbai FC, who lost their first match, have three points from today's win while Sporting Clube de Goa are yet to open their account.

The first half was a dull affair with neither team showing urgency in their attack. Sporting created couple of scoring chances but Mauvin Borges and Rowllin Borges failed to get past rival keeper Kunal Sawant.

Mumbai FC needed a win to stay in contention for the semi-finals berth broke the deadlock in the injury time of the first half when Sampath Kuttymani header brushed off rival keeper before finding the net off a flag kick taken by Climax Lawrence.
 

The trend continued in the second half. Sporting who had the ball possession made inroads into the rival half but could not get past rival defenders.
