Mumbai girl Suhaani wins bronze at Commonwealth Chess

Suhaani Lohia of Mumbai won the bronze medal in the girls' Under-8 category of the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2017.

Suhaani, ranked third in the tournament, finished with a score of 5.5 out of 7 games at the championship which concluded in New Delhi yesterday.

She and compatriot Hiya Panchal, ranked seventh, who also ended with 5.5 points, were tied in second spot, but the latter, with a better tie-break progressive score, clinched the silver medal and Suhaani had to settle for the bronze, a media release said today.

India's WCM Shefali A N from Karnataka, ranked No 1, finished with a tally of 6 points and took the gold medal.
