A luxurious hotel here is hogging limelight after 10 Karnataka MLAs, belonging to the ruling JD (S) and the Congress, checked in over the weekend after submitting their resignations to the Assembly speaker there, throwing the southern state in political turmoil.

Since then, the hotel, located in upscale BKC, a bustling central business district in Mumbai, has become a beehive of hectic political activity.

An eleventh MLA, H Nagesh, an Independent who resigned as a Karnataka minister and also from the assembly membership Monday, joined the rebel group at the hotel this afternoon.

The police in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) have stepped up vigil outside the hotel, which is close to the British Deputy High Commission, US consulate, office of the Mumbai Cricket Association and the MMRDA Ground.

The police have put barricades on the road outside the high-end property and did not allow Congress workers or leaders to enter its premises Monday.

However, some Congress leaders from Karnataka managed to meet the rebels Sunday.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP MLC Prasad Lad had been seen in the hotel for the last two days.

Youth Congress workers Monday brought two horse-drawn carriages outside the hotel as part of protest against the BJP's "horse trading", which they said, had led to the crisis in the alliance government in the southern state.

The saffron outfit has denied any role in the ongoing political turmoil in Karnataka.

A large contingent of media personnel from Karnataka, including those from news channels, has landed in Mumbai to cover political developments in the metropolis related to the state.
