Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray Saturday inaugurated the "Balasaheb Thackeray Rozgar Melava" here in suburban Goregaon.
The job fair has been organised by the Industries department of the Maharashtra government.
Speaking at the fair, Thackeray said that he fulfils promises, adding that many of those who applied for jobs would get employment letters.
Praising state cabinet minister Subhash Desai, he said Maharashtra is at the forefront on several fronts and holding the Industries portfolio was not an easy job.
He further said people speaking Marathi have been deprived of jobs in their own state.
What was the benefit of their education if they did not receive good jobs, the Sena chief questioned.
According to a statement, 5,000 youngsters had applied online to register for the fair, while 2,000 applied offline.
