Rail traffic on Mumbai-Solapur line was affected today for nearly half-an-hour after a monkey got electrocuted that resulted in tripping of power on the route, said a senior railway official.

The primate got electrocuted at Monkey Hill station, in Pune division of the Central Railway, at 9.54 AM and the services were restored around 10.24 AM, he said.

The railway station is named so because the area has a large number of monkeys.

"The monkey was reported to have been electrocuted when it came in contact with the overhead wire due to which power supply got tripped. A brief power block was taken to remove the monkey," a senior official of the CR's Public Relations department said.

Train 11024 Sahyadri Express was affected due to the incident, he said.
