"With the introduction of T20, there is additional avenue for cricketers to make good living. MCA intends to start Mumbai T20 Prestige League (MTPL)," he said at a meeting with MCA's member-clubs here.
"However, taking into consideration the legal complications involved with individual sponsors, player commitments and tax exemption of the association, we have to formulate a structure," he said, adding that it can be started only next year.
"We have to formulate a structure which will be done as early as possible with a proper legal framework and finding a clear window for the tournament in the new tournament structure of MCA," Savant said.
He also promised the MCA member-clubs to increase their subsidy to Rs 3,000 per match from the current Rs 1,500.
He said MCA will set up a new museum to showcase Mumbai cricket's long and glorious history. "We shall form a new museum committee involving some experts and the work will start immediately," Savant said.
