Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today sought to know from Chief Minister Hemant Soren whether the surprise inspection of police stations and coke factories by chief secretary Sajal Chakraborty were serious or mere "photo opportunities".

"The people would like to know whether these surprise inspections by the chief secretary is just for photo opportunity or there is any seriousness behind it," Munda said in his letter to Soren.

During his late night inspections yesterday, the chief secretary inspected some police stations in Ramgarh and Ranchi districts and reportedly caught the police napping.

"As per newspaper reports, the chief secretary (during his inspection) directed the police to make it a 'zero bribe' force within a month, which leaves nothing to comment upon the government," Munda alleged in the letter to Soren.

Referring to the alleged income from illegal coal mining cropping up during the inspections, Munda demanded to know who all were involved in coal smuggling.

The Vigilance Bureau is probing into coal smuggling on Soren's direction.
