The Leader of Opposition in the Upper House Dhananjay Munde today demanded an apology from the government for the delay in setting up a welfare board for sugarcane workers in the name of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde.

Munde in a starred question asked the government about the status of the "Gopinathraoji Munde Uss Todni Kamgaar Kalyankari Mahamandal" which was announced three years ago.

He questioned the government on the number of sugarcane workers in the unorganised sector who had got help from this board.

He also asked the government where the board's office had been set up.

In reply, Minister of Labour and Employement Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar informed that the government had given approval for the concerned board last month and had made a provision of Rs 100 crore for it.

He added that the office of the welfare board would be established in Parali within the next one month.
